Hello there,
Long time no talk? blog? read? You get what I am saying, haha. The past year has been a crazy ride for me. So much has changed and so much has happened. I learned so many new things and so many things about myself. They always say that your young adult years are defining years of your life and I have to agree. This year, as I said, has taught me so many things. It’s been chaotic and wild and fast and through it all I forgot to blog.
Blogging is something that really has been apart of my life, in various ways, since middle school. I always feel like blogging helps me connect to myself in a creative way and I have always enjoyed the feeling of sitting down to write a post. I think the problem for me this year was that I got caught up in the whole popular idea of blogging. I felt the need to make it perfect and try to match up to other famous fashion bloggers and I think I forgot to be myself. I forgot the real reason I loved blogging, which is connecting to people.
While I like to do posts of outfits, it felt too much like a chore for me. I felt as though if I had other posts that my blog would not be “sleek” or “professional.” And the problem was that I didn’t have time to go out and take blog photos all the time. I felt like I wasn’t blogging for me anymore and that’s not what I want. The whole point of blogging is for it to be a creative outlet and while I think it’s great that people make a business out of it, I don’t want that to be my goal, because if it is, it will feel like a job and not the hobby I enjoy.
This year I am going to start blogging more often but I am going to change things up a bit. While I love fashion, my blog is not going to be solely fashion based. I am going to include more lifestyle posts such as cooking and hauls and advice and just some sit down talking posts like this. Who knows? There is an endless possibility of things I can do with my blog now that I am allowing myself that open opportunity. If people don’t want to read my blog because it’s not “professional” enough for them then that is okay. I am not doing this for the views, I am doing it for myself so it needs to be something I enjoy.
I am going to refresh my blog a bit and have gotten rid of some old posts. The look and name are generally going to stay the same but you will see some changes. I hope you enjoy this change as much as I do and I am looking forward to this new year of blogging.
